Unexpected Bonuses From Small Business Clients

Bonus of Working With Small BusinessesWhen Clerical Essentials was started, I knew the services that were offered would help small business owners and entrepreneurs who didn’t have the need or the funds to hire a full-time staff. I knew my clients would benefit from me taking care of the day to day tasks that kept them from expanding their business and building their client relationships.

What I DIDN’T expect was the knowledge I would gain from working with my clients. It just never occurred to me that I would actually obtain information that would help MY business by doing work for my clients. Silly, right? How could I not learn valuable information from working with business consultants, web designers and marketing guru’s?

The light bulb finally went off last week as I was watching a video tutorial on web design at WebSIGHT Hangouts (Thanks Stephan!). As I was watching these videos, I realized that, not only was I providing a service to a client, I was actually taking away something that I could  put into action for my business. The same thing goes for a weekly conference call I have with another client and her business coach. Now, I’m not a sales person, and our businesses are not even closely related, but to have the opportunity to sit in with a business coach each week is a wonderful thing. You’re bound to get something out of it!

I love light bulb moments. Although it may not be a deliberate action, the sharing, growing and learning from each other are nice little bonuses I receive from being a small business owner. What about you? What have you learned from your clients and what have they learned from you?
