5 Productivity Tips for You And Your Virtual Assistant

ProductivityWorking with a Virtual Assistant can be extremely beneficial to you and your small business. It can also present some challenges to both of you regarding productivity. These are easy to overcome provided you take the time to follow a few steps.

I’ve talked about trust in the relationship between business owners and their VA’s, but when you work virtually, there also needs to be great communication. This is another key to a successful partnership. Clear, concise explanations of the tasks or projects you want accomplished will make your life (and your Virtual Assistant’s) much easier.

Here are 5 ways to improve productivity with your Virtual Assistant:

  1.  Be clear on exactly what you are expecting your VA to accomplish. Cryptic emails or phone messages are not going to get the project done in a timely manner.
  2. Set goals with a deadline so you both know exactly what is due and when.
  3. Share a calendar. Google calendar is great for this.
  4. Make use of a project manager. I have recently been introduced to BaseCamp and love it! This also has a nice calendar feature.
  5. Plan to have either a phone, Skype or in-person meeting at least once a week with your Virtual Assistant to address any concerns or issues and to discuss future projects.

Whether you are a small business owner or entrepreneur, or a Virtual Assistant working with one or multiple clients, these ideas will help you keep your business running smoothly.

Please feel free to share productivity ideas that your use with your Virtual Assistant, or with your clients if you’re a VA!
